How not to Loose your Stuff in Taxi

Usually when we board a Taxi/Maxi Taxi we tend to relax while on our way. At the end of journey in many cases passenger forget to collect some of their belongings like it could be Mobile phone, Wallet or a shopping bag.

What to do in such cases? How we can avoid loosing them forever?

Remember as soon as you board a Taxi/Maxi Cab try to note down the details of the cab. For example the first thing to note down is Taxi number itself. Most important thing which people neglect is to note the Cab number they are travelling in. Though it very obvious and is written on every door of the Taxi  but still no one pay heed on it.

Next most important thing is the Driver Authority number. This is the number written on the Identity card of the driver. In Melbourne it is a rule that every Cab driver should display his Driver Authority card. On which you can see who is your driver, His photo and his number. So first thing as soon as you get into a cab you should note down the number.

Last and not the least is when you reach your destination always insist on getting an Invoice. An Invoice will have all the details recorded on it from Date and Time of travel, Taxi number, Driver Authority number, Boarding suburb and Destination suburb, which cab company etc. So there is no chance of any cabbie, intentionally or unintentionally getting away with our valuables.

Finally if you din't bother to get any of the above details then the only possibility will be you have to report it to your local Police as soon as you realise you are missing something.

Apart from informing local Police you can also try and give a call to all the local Cab companies and request them to put up a global notice on all the cabs on their network about the lost item. If you are lucky enough you might end up getting back your valuables.
